If I Had a Boat...

This mesmerising song by James Vincent McMorrow is too beautiful not to share. Have you heard him before? He's been on repeat here in the Elkhorn studio... his new album 'Early In the Morning' is currently streaming on his website. Definitely worth a listen!

Spider's tale

This morning's walk was full of fog & dew and all things spidery! Not for the faint-hearted, every tree was dripping with spider's webs. Literally! To add to the eerie mystical feel standing out on the big boulders where you'd usually have amazing views of the ocean was just thick voids of endless fog... very 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'.  One of our Instagram friend's Orangepoppy described the web image at the top as a 'delicate lace net', I like that. What about you... can you stand spiders??

Hard to believe this was this morning as it turned out to be a beautiful sunny 27 degrees!
Enjoy your weekend xx

Breeze Magazine Issue Two!

The second issue of Breeze Magazine is out! Once again it's full to the brim of spectacular photography and seemingly endless inspiring Central Coast places and people!

I was immediately taken by the cozy welcoming bedroom on the cover and was chuffed to recognise local sean the prawn cushions adorning the room! I loved the charm and modern touches of this humbly renovated Pretty Beach cottage. It was refreshing to see the owners with architect David Boyle chose to build on the existing cottage in an harmonious way adding to the character of the home. I dream of owning such a homely home one day...

It seems all of my favourite places where featured in this issue of Killcare area and the Bouddi Peninsula along with Fat Goose & Moochinside... and plenty of new discoveries. Escape to Breeze Mag here...

We were also lucky to be in Breeze Magazine again with the addition of my photo journey(previously posted on the Elkhorn blog) of Rip Bridge to Hardy's bay... Michelle of Breeze Magazine spotted it on our blog and thought it would be a 'nice fit' in the Bouddi Peninsula themed issue. It's so lovely to see it all spruced up, magazine like!

I am still revisiting the launch issue of Breeze Magazine. Below are a few favourite pages
These tranquil images of the newly refurbished Woy Woy Fisherman's Wharf were so inviting I have since found myself there with friends and family enjoying a few wines and a great fisho meal... such a perfect setting to truly admire the beauty of Woy Woy(A.K.A 'The Woy')!

and of course a couldn't resist showing you a couple of pages from our Elkhorn feature...

LOVE all round for Breeze Magazine! Thanks again x

Hidden Seas

Ohhh I just discovered the 'Hidden Seas' exhibition (via Sibella Court Instag.ram) by artist Dominique Sutton on at Tim Olsen Gallery, Woollahra. Looks right up my alley...beautiful, organic.. boaty

It's in my diary for next weekend. I am yearning for some inspiration and city time, so I
might make a day of it and visit a few gallery's and find a cozy spot in a wine bar with a friend of course... any takers? ;) Perfect plan for a rainy weather we are having. Enjoy your weekend!

for the love of wood

As you know I love all things nature & coastal and you most probably do to! I know my friend Zoe does ;) A little piece of wood can add lots of charm. Found branches, driftwood, old timber boxes can bring an easy, rustic feel to every room. I've been collecting ideas for sometime now and made a few driftwood creations for friends and Elkhorn stall displays. It's a cheap and sometimes free way to decorate and adds a very individual touch. These are just some of the many 'natural woody' inspired images I've collected.  Most are from DIY projects so if you like them click on the image or description for how-to!

not sure if I'd be game to try this one myself (might burn the house down)
but it's so beautiful and an effective idea Birch Bark Lamps.
Imagine it wrapped with native Melaleuca bark giving off sweet tea tree smells.

Cute rustic collections of chopping boards make a wonderful quirky
kitchen displays as well as old wine cartons positioned on -top of each
other as shelving or mounted to a wall as shown.

One amazing headboard... which I'm sure would have you dreaming of deserted islands, blue lagoon style. Probably one of the more challenging diy's
Love the simplicity of the neon painted tree branch hanging rail,
sea worthy head board and nifty kitchen roll

I'm a huge fan of ladders in the bathroom or any space really. I like how they have
used painted timber up-rights on the timber ladder blending in with the walls while the found
branches add contrast and organic twist.
Below are a couple of our own natural creations...

feature driftwood supports added to our plywood box shelving
(photographed by Jillian Leiboff)

A heart shape driftwood sculpture I made as a gift for two special friends

You may of seen our driftwood ladder at the markets.. usually hidden under scarves or table runners. Not the best image... but you get the idea!
What do you think? do you love adding wood/branches to your place?
Love to see how you might display your woody collections !?

secluded hide-away

Truly inspiring project built between friends in the secluded woods of Beaver Brook! Even the name sounds cool. They documented the building process here with some gorgeous photography... Oh so jealous
